At Hermes, the prices for parcels and packages will increase from August. Both national and international shipping, private customers must change accordingly.
After DHL raised its prices on July 1, Hermes is now following suit. The price increase, which will come into effect on August 1st, primarily affects private customers. In particular, delivery to the front door is becoming more expensive. The most significant price jump is for luggage and bulky goods.
Prices for Hermes parcels and parcels are increasing
The prices are rising in many places, so now also for shipping at Hermes. According to the Hamburg-based company, the increased costs cannot be offset by savings. The entire logistics industry is currently struggling with the effects of increased electricity and fuel costs. Therefore, part of it has to be passed on to the customers. Not all are affected, but some types of shipments are.
In the future, a standard parcel will cost EUR 4.50, regardless of whether it is stamped online or not. Previously, you could save 20 cents if you already stamped the parcel at home and then only handed it in at the branch. As with DHL, this advantage will no longer apply in the future. Otherwise, the online prices remain relatively untouched, while customers who only pay in the parcel shop have to reckon with 10 to 40 cents more, depending on the parcel size. The prices for Parcel Shop delivery, where customers pick up their parcel at the branch, remain untouched.
Hermes will increase prices from August, especially in the luggage and bulky goods segment. It is primarily about shipments that require special attention when sorting in the centers. Bulky goods in particular also take up a comparatively large amount of space during transport. So if you send your suitcase to a parcel shop via Hermes in the future, you no longer pay 15.95 euros, but 19.95 euros. If you want to save a lot of travel stress and have your luggage delivered to your front door, you have to reckon with 24.95 euros instead of the previous 18.95 euros. The so-called “service fee” for bulky goods in addition to the package price is also 19.95 euros from August.
International shipping at Hermes is also becoming more expensive
From August, customers will also have to pay more for parcels and parcels sent outside Germany. There is talk of a “significant increase in the freight batches of the partners (…) with whom Hermes works in the international freight sector”. While the Hermes prices do not change within the EU and thus the European Customs Union, there is a surcharge for seven countries. So if you send parcels and parcels to China, Canada, Norway, Australia, the USA, the United Kingdom or Switzerland from August, you have to reckon with around two to 40 euros more.
