The silence stampa of the ruling party after the resignation of Guzmán

On Saturday at 5:47 p.m., Twitter was revolutionized: Martin Guzman published a message with the letter of his resignation from the position of Minister of Economy. And it generated a stir throughout Argentina. His publication had more than 6,000 retweets and disrupted the routine of every newsroom in the country.

From that moment, the word “Guzmán” became the first trend, a position that it maintained until Sunday at noon, accumulating more than 180,000 tweets. The most curious thing is that the now former Minister of Economy resigned in the middle of an act of Cristina Fernandez of Kirchner for the 48th anniversary of the death of Juan Domingo Perón. Thus, the hashtag #VivaCristina, which was winning the trends on Saturday, was widely surpassed by #Guzmán.

Other words that became a trend on Saturday afternoon were #TheWorstGovernmentInHistory with more than 10,000 tweets, #Early Elections with less than 10,000 tweets, “Minister of Economy” with more than 60,000 and, obviously, the names of different economists and politicians.

#Massafor example was mentioned on Twitter more than 37,000 times in the last 24 hours, #Cristina more than 95,000 times. “Macri” more than 35,000 and “Alberto” more than 105,000. “Martín Guzmán” also became one of the most searched terms on Google. It did not reach the peak of searches but maintained some relevance.

But the most interesting thing is that referents of the ruling party did not express themselves in social networks about this fact. Just two hours later, Cristina tweeted: Beautiful act in Ensenada along with thousands of colleagues, honoring Perón. The best tribute we can pay him is to see what he did and try, every day, to bring the pallina a little closer”.

Almost at the same time, the governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillowrote: “Together with colleagues, we accompany @CFKArgentina in Ensenada to pay tribute to Perón. Honoring Perón is working every day to expand rights”.

And there is more digital data: so far, the description in the profiles of Martin Guzman’s social networks was not modified (in which he added several thousand followers since his resignation). He keeps saying “Minister of Economy of the Argentine Republic”. Did he forget to change it? Guzmán’s resignation came just 48 hours after President Alberto Fernández said in an interview: “The problem we have is that the economy is growing a lot.”
