High US award for gymnast Biles and football star Rapinoe
Four-time Olympic gymnastics champion Simone Biles and two-time world soccer champion Megan Rapinoe are two of 17 to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The White House released the list for the highest American civilian award.
The award, which will be presented to those who have made outstanding contributions to the United States, will be presented on July 7. Among those selected are actor and Oscar winner Denzel Washington and Senator John McCain, who died in 2018.
