Confusion about the new Corona rules for students. If you have had contact with an infected person, you no longer have to be in quarantine. Protest against this rule!
Health councilors and medical officers published a joint statement on Friday. It said quite generally: “An untargeted blanket quarantine for contact persons no longer makes epidemiological sense.”
The effects on children who had contact with an infected person in daycare centers or schools only became clear at the weekend: no more quarantine, instead daily quick tests. Surprisingly, this should already apply from Monday, a district politician from the BZ confirmed
► Reasons given by the medical officers: One wants to concentrate on vulnerable (vulnerable) groups.
But this new regulation was not coordinated with the Senate! “I have no understanding whatsoever. In my world, children also belong to vulnerable groups,” tweeted Secretary of State for Youth Aziz Bozkurt (40, SPD).

► Opinion: The quarantine rules are often absurd
“So far, this has been a one-sided statement by the medical officers from their professional perspective,” said a spokesman for the education administration to the BZ. “We are currently clarifying the specific effects on the schools. It must be ensured that parents quickly receive a certificate for the employer when they are in quarantine with their child.”
Strong criticism of the new regulation from education expert Franziska Brychcy (38, left): “It is understandable that the health authorities have to focus on vulnerable groups with limited staff capacities,” said the MP. “However, this must not lead to the quarantine criteria for contact persons of infected people in daycare and school children being lowered! This would be tantamount to a negligent infection strategy, according to which it is no longer the goal to prevent/avoid infections among daycare and school children at all!”
The FDP MP Paul Fresdorf (44) is also surprised by the hasty decision of the districts: “It is difficult for 12 medical officers to make the decision to lift the quarantine for contact persons in schools. Because above that is the headline infestation of schools. A decision that represents major interventions in the health of children and families, a decision that in a democracy, if at all, should be made by Parliament.”
Fresdorf continues: “Schools must be safe places to learn, with a functioning hygiene concept, room air filters and CO2 traffic lights and test strategy. This also includes contact persons going into quarantine if there is a positive case. Exposing this is dangerous!”
