Van de Zandschulp also qualifies for third round Wimbledon

Botic van de Zandschulp has reached the third round of Wimbledon after beating Finnish tennis player Emil Ruusuvuori. Never before in his career did Van de Zandschulp, number 31 in the world, reach this far in the London tournament. The Dutchman needed four sets to beat Ruusuvuori (number 49 in the world ranking): 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4.

At this stage of the tournament, Van de Zandschulp is accompanied by his Dutch colleague Tim van Rijthoven. For the first time in twenty years, two Dutchmen have been placed for the third round. On Wednesday evening, Van Rijthoven beat Reilly Opelka in four sets: 6-4, 6-7 (8), 7-6(7), 7.6 (4). His victory is somewhat surprising, Van Rijthoven is the 104th in the world and Opelka the number 18.

The Dutch Lesley Pattinama-Kerkhove will also be in action on Thursday. She will compete against the Polish Iga Swiatek, the number 1 in the world. Pattinama-Kerkhove is in 138th place. Earlier, another Dutchman, Tallon Dikkenpoor, had to leave Wimbledon after a loss against Carlos Alcaraz. In the first round, Arantxa Rus already flew out of the tournament.
