The driver of a truck died tonight after he collided with a tree between Schoonebeek and Nieuw-Schoonebeek. It concerns a 35-year-old man from Coevorden, the police report.
Emergency services had to free him from the vehicle after the accident. Medical help was no longer necessary; the man had already died of his injuries.
Another car was involved in the accident on Europaweg (N836). The driver was taken to hospital for a check-up. No further information has been released about his injuries. Several emergency services, including a trauma helicopter, were called.
The truck in which the fatal victim was driving was loaded with several containers. They were scattered on the road after the vehicle hit the tree. It is not yet known how that could have happened. The police are further investigating.
