1. FC Köln is sending an important signal to its fans: coach Steffen Baumgart has extended his current contract by one year. The club announced this on Monday morning. The coach’s working paper now runs until June 30, 2024.
Baumgart says in the median: “The talks with FC went quickly. It quickly became clear to all of us how we would go about it and how we want to work together in the future. I really like being here because I like FC and the city I feel very comfortable and our journey is not over yet.”
“Team raised to a new level”
Then he adds: “Even though I’ve signed until 2024 and can well imagine staying at FC beyond that, I’ll stick to my path and continue to plan from season to season.”
FC Managing Director Christian Keller also has positive words for the coach: “We are very pleased that we came to an agreement with Steffen very quickly and that he extended his contract with FC. Over the past year, Steffen has worked together with the coaching and support staff of the licensed team did an excellent job and raised the performance of our team to a new level.”
Baumgart came to Cologne in June 2021. With him, the club ended up in seventh place last season.
