“At VI they were like: why can Chateau Bijstand participate? Yes, then I think to myself: listen, that was a spin-off from Effe Geen Cent Te Makken and not from Chateau Meiland”, says Martien. Erica joined Martien. “No, it has almost nothing to do with that. Only we are the same, but nothing else.”
Martien thus more or less repeated the previously prepared statement by Televizier. He stated last week that the Meilandjes can again win the Televizier-Ring, despite the family winning the audience award in 2019. Different rules apply to Today Inside and Lubach because, according to Televizier, those programs are too similar to Voetbal International and Zondag met Lubach, the winners of 2011 and 2017.

“The editors have ruled that Chateau Bijstand is not a spin-off of Chateau Meiland, but a spin-off of Effe Geen Cent Te Makken. That format has not yet won a Golden Televizier Ring, and can therefore participate in the election,” a spokesperson said at the time.
Earlier this month it was announced that Chateau Bijstand has qualified for the long list. This will eventually contain 25 programs from which the three nominees will be chosen later this year.
The Meilandjes are eager to win the Ring again. “It can go either way,” says Erica. “Hopefully the fans will vote, that would be nice.”
