On Tuesday (June 21), the Rolling Stones returned to the stage in Milan after two concerts of their “Sixty” tour fell through due to Mick Jagger’s corona disease. At the San Siro Stadium they played a set consisting of 19 pieces in total.
Gimme Gospel
Above all, the performance of “Gimme Shelter” was an event: they played one of their greatest songs together with the gospel singer Chanel Haynes. The musician took the place of actual longtime backup singer Sasha Allen. She had missed the show for an unspecified reason. Discovered by famed producer Quincy Jones, Haynes is best known as one third of the gospel trio Trin-i-Tee 5:7. She also starred in the British production of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.
As with all previous dates on the tour, the Stones kicked off their set with a video tribute to Charlie Watts. Session drummer Steve Jordan has been on drums since Watts’ death in December last year.

The Rolling Stones are coming to Berlin
To celebrate their 60th anniversary, the Rolling Stones are currently performing throughout Europe as part of the “Sixty” tour. It started on June 1st in Madrid, followed four days later by a stop in Munich – including a tourist stroll. The concerts in the Netherlands and Switzerland had to be postponed (Amsterdam) or canceled (Bern) due to Mick Jagger’s corona infection. Last week, the singer then announced: “I feel much better and can’t wait to be back on stage next week.” The concert in Milan’s San Siro Stadium could therefore take place. On Wednesday, July 27th, they will return to Germany for a performance at Schalke. In addition, a last additional concert in the Berlin Waldbühne was announced today.
