Podium is too ambitious for Julius van den Berg at the Dutch National Time Trial Championship

Julius van den Berg wanted to take a shot at the podium, but has to settle for sixth place in the Dutch National Time Trial Championship. The 25-year-old cyclist from Purmerend had to give in 52 seconds to winner Bauke Mollema.

During the time trial in Emmen, Van den Berg completed the course in 33 minutes and 55 seconds. Bauke Mollema defeated specialist Tom Dumoulin, who is in his final year as a pro. Daan Hoole completed the podium. Van den Berg also had to tolerate Jos van Emden and Elmar Reijnders.

“If I have a good day, I can ride for a podium place,” said Van den Berg before the flat time trial over 29.4 kilometers. However, the North Hollander was 19 seconds short for a podium place.
