West Ham United have announced the signing of defender Nayef Aguerd (26) from Stade Rennes. As the “Hammers” announced on Monday, the central defender signed a contract until 2027. According to media reports, the fee for the Moroccan international is around 35 million euros and can increase due to bonus payments. The Londoners have only paid as much money for three players in their club’s history, including record purchase Sébastien Haller (27).
Meanwhile, in Rennes, Aguerd shares the top position in terms of the most expensive departures with Ousmane Dembélé (25), whose move to BVB in 2017 was also 35 million euros, taking all parameters into account. Aguerd came to Rennes in 2020, where his contract would originally have been valid for three years and where he gradually increased his market value from 4 to currently 12 million euros. In the past season, the left-footed player was used in 40 games in all competitions, in which he contributed four goals and three assists.
