Mario Götze’s return to the Bundesliga is nearing completion. According to a media report, the players and the club have reached an agreement – but one detail still seems to be missing.
Transfer coup before completion: Mario Götze’s return to the Bundesliga is getting closer. According to a report by “Sport 1”, those responsible for Eintracht Frankfurt and the German World Cup hero from 2014 have largely reached an agreement. Götze is still under contract with PSV Eindhoven until 2024 – but could change clubs thanks to the exit clause of four million euros.
Eintracht Frankfurt is apparently ready to pull the mini-clause and bring the 30-year-old to Hesse. He is no longer expected at PSV training on Monday.
Board of Directors meets on Monday
The Frankfurt team around sports director Markus Krösche had met with the playmaker in the last few days and showed him a plan: Götze should play a key role in coach Oliver Glasner’s system as a strong and ball-safe ten.
The transfer only depends on the supervisory board. The committee will meet on Monday, it said. With an “okay” nothing stands in the way of the change. In Frankfurt, Götze would rise to become the top earner. Defense star Martin Hinteregger said on Sky on Saturday: “In terms of player type, he would be an excellent fit for us. That’s exactly what we need.”
In addition to Frankfurt, Lisbon and Serie A clubs as well as Inter Miami also advertised for the creative professional. But a return to Germany now seems more and more likely.
