Ryan Gosling plays the fictional character Ken, introduced by Mattel in 1961 as Barbie’s counterpart, in the new Barbie movie.
Now, on June 15, 2022, Warner Bros. released the first photo of Gosling in his new role. In the picture you can see the actor with platinum blonde hair and a skimpy jeans outfit as well as well-trained abdominal muscles. The snapshot also shows “Ken” boxer shorts.

With Margot Robbie and Will Ferrell
The Greta Gerwig-directed production, starring Margot Robbie, is slated for release on July 21, 2023. The screenplay was written by Gerwig and her partner Noah Baumbach.
The film also stars Will Ferrell, Simu Liu, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon and Issa Rae. Gerwig and Noah Baumbach co-wrote the screenplay. Little is known about the plot.
The film has been in development for some time, with Sony initially securing the rights. At that time Anne Hathaway and Amy Schumer were planned as actresses. Eventually, however, the project moved to Warner Bros.
Margot Robbie is looking forward to the project
While fans will have to wait until 2023 to see Barbie, Robbie, who also serves as a producer, has already shared some insights into the project.
“Playing with Barbie encourages confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey of self-discovery,” the actress said in a 2019 press release. “Over the nearly 60 years of the brand, Barbie has empowered children to explore themselves into aspiring roles, from princess to president. I am honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and viewers around the world. I can’t think of better partners than Warner Bros and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”
