Today we review IN AMBER – the new record by Hercules & Love Affair -, the new album UGLY SEASON by Perfume Genius and UP AND AWAY by Σtella.
Anohni is back – but this time not with her band Antony and the Johnsonsbut with the queer house project Hercules & Love Affair. uAnd for the first time since 2008. IN AMBER is therefore also an Anohni album – even if Hercules mastermind Andy Butler picks up the mic himself on the opener “Grace”.
Never is perfume genius so far stepped out of his piano ballad comfort zone like on his new album UGLY SEASON. All the more fun that a track “Pop Song” is called – although this is probably the least pop perfume-Genius album of all time.
Σtella manages with great elegance on her new album merging the traditional harmonies of her native Greece and the pop music from her parents’ record cabinet. Here was with greatest matter of course a new genre born that you can no longer miss would like: the Greek West Coast pop.
Would you like to listen to the new albums? No problem!
