A total of 17 well-known establishments participate in the Barcelona Born Gourmet, with ‘showcooking’, tapas, wines and music
With the memory still alive on the palate of the recent Tast a la Rambla, this Friday another gastronomic festival has landed in Ciutat Vella that dazzles foodies: the Born Street Food. Until Sunday night, a total of 17 establishments participate in this event where each one dispatches one of its specialties at street level, with ‘show cooking‘ included. The initiative, which reaches its 9th edition, aims to bring the area’s cuisine and chefs closer to the general public.
The gastrofestivalwhich works non-stop all day (from 12:00 to 00:00 on Fridays and Saturdays, and until 10:00 on Sundays), is concentrated in the square Pla de Palau. In addition to consuming on the spot (tickets are bought right there), you can buy products to take away and taste wines, with the soundtrack of different local DJs. The president of the Barcelona Born Gourmet Association, Iñaki López de Viñaspre (Grupo Sagardi, with several participating restaurants), highlights that the assembly is an opportunity to combine an “avant-garde gastronomic evening” while reconnecting with the essence of the neighborhood.

In his debut, hundreds of people have come this Friday noon to try the temptations which in some cases are elaborated spectacularly.
Participating venues include everything from classics such as 7 ports from Paco Parellada, where they serve their traditional Parellada fish paella, to novelties as fashionable as the Japanese tavern Ikoya Izakaya, where chef Hideki Matsuhisa offers chicken yakitori don.
Among the outstanding positions this year is the presence of the Fishermen’s Guildwhich recalls the commercial past of El Born, and where they serve cones of fried blue fish. Bronzo Bar e Cucina proposes pasta cacio e pepe with black truffle; Cadaques he has prepared ‘brut’ rice with cuttlefish and clams; in the mexican oaxaca they serve cochinita pibil tacos; in sagardia powerful sandwich of grilled old cow ribeye with piquillo peppers, while diners can watch the beast being roasted.

Since Forum bet on their gourmet choripán, while in 1881, the restaurant of the Museu d’Història de Catalunya, cooks these days on a large scale fideuás with ribs and sausages. And if in Guzzo Club they serve lamb croquettes with black garlic aioli, in Vila Viniteca they have chosen their assortment of artisan cheeses, among other examples.
The tickets They are sold at 3.5 euros, and the exchange is one for drinks, and two for each dish. The organization has announced another edition in September, coinciding with the Mercè.
