Rafael Nadal wants to compete in Wimbledon later this month and is hopeful of being fit in time for the iconic grass tournament. Nadal won Roland Garros two weeks ago, but did so with an injury to his left foot. This made his participation in Wimbledon uncertain, but now the Spaniard says he definitely wants to play in London.

Nadal has already won the two grand slams this year and hopes to add a third in London. He will leave for London on Monday to prepare for Wimbledon at the Hurlingham invitational tournament. However, his participation is by no means certain.

“The treatments and the last week of training tell me there is a chance I will make it. Monday I travel to London and then I have a week to see how it goes in training. It is my intention to participate in Wimbledon,” said the Spaniard.

Battle with Federer and Djokovic

Nadal is in fierce competition with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic for the most Grand Slams won. Nadal has been at 22 for two weeks, while his competitors have to make do with 20 majors for the time being.

Novak Djokovic is the big favorite at Wimbledon to catch up to Nadal. The Serb is excellent on grass and saw many of his competitors drop out. For example, Alexander Zverev, Roger Federer and Daniil Medvedev will not be present in London.
