The Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg actually serves as a motorsport race track. The roaring machines cannot be overheard on a total area of 97 hectares. A single motorcycle reaches around 70 decibels – but now it’s supposed to be even louder at the Hockenheimring.
With a snarling dog as its logo, the “Download” festival was announced for Germany for the first time. The event on June 24 is intended to offer “real rock lovers in Germany” a “new home”. The highlight: Metallica as headliner.

“With Download Germany we are bringing an extraordinary hard’n’heavy music experience to Germany,” it says. In addition to Metallica, the British punk rockers Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, the heavy metal band Five Finger Death Punch and the Polish extreme metal band Behemoth will perform:

Over 70,000 spectators are expected at the festival. Standard tickets are available from 139 euros, and VIP tickets are now also available for the interior and south stands. Fans can buy access to the VIP area for 400 euros.
Festival will be broadcast online
“For everyone who can’t be there live, we offer a broadcast in the usual best quality,” promises Telekom. The concerts at the Hockenheimring will be broadcast live on both MagentaTV and MagentaMusic.
The Download Festival is considered one of the biggest rock festivals in England. Overseas, Leicestershire has attracted around 120,000 visitors every year since 2013. Fun fact: the festival also takes place on a motorsport racetrack in England.
