Despite good play, VV Alkmaar ran into a league defeat tonight. In Rotterdam Feyenoord scored once more than the North Holland women: 2-1.
Feyenoord’s 1-0 came about after half an hour. A shot by Annouk Boshuizen went in via VV Alkmaar defender Nicole Stoop. Sanne Koopman slid into the deserved equalizer after the break, after which Mark de Vries’ team went looking for three points.
The dominance was there, but unfortunately Feyenoord scored. Romée van de Lavoir (photo) scored beautifully by using a free kick. As a result, VV Alkmaar misses the connection with the subtop. The number seven in the women’s Eredivisie has thirteen points after fourteen matches. Feyenoord is fourth with 25 points.
Ajax Women is still the leader. On Sunday, numbers two and three FC Twente and PSV will play against each other in Enschede.
