For Rio world champion Jérôme Boateng, a move from the French first division club Olympique Lyon to Turkey is out of the question.

His advisor Tolga Dirican said after rumors about interest from champion Trabzonspor at “Sky”: “Jérôme has a contract in Lyon and I have not spoken to any club from Turkey. His claim to himself and to the next season is very high.”

The 33-year-old central defender (contract until 2023) wants to “play for titles, as befits a world champion and two-time Champions League winner.” Boateng moved to France from Bayern Munich last summer and made 24 appearances in Ligue 1 under coach Peter Bosz, plagued by an inflammation of the pubic bone.

“He didn’t have any preparation last season because he came to Lyon very late. We definitely don’t want to repeat that this year,” explained Dirican: “Jérôme is already working hard on preparing for the new season.”
