FC Bayern is selling goalkeeping talent with a buyback clause

Christian Früchtl has long been considered a potential challenger to captain Manuel Neuer at Bayern Munich. The homegrown German record champion sees his future elsewhere and is about to change.

Christian Früchtl spent most of his football career at FC Bayern. In 2014 he was hired by the Munich U15s, and from 2015 he worked through all the junior national teams of the DFB up to the U20s. But: The breakthrough in the professional field has so far been denied to the 22-year-old.

A loan move to the second division club 1. FC Nürnberg in the 2020/21 season ended without any use. His highlight so far: coming on as a substitute in the closing stages of the 34th Bundesliga matchday of the past season at VfL Wolfsburg (2-2), when he made his professional debut at FC Bayern.

However, the young goalkeeper has no prospect of further games under head coach Julian Nagelsmann. In Sven Ulreich the number two is firmly on the bench, in U19 keeper Johannes Schenk the new number three should already have been found.

Rent or sell? FC Bayern relies on an interim solution

Shortly after the last game of the season, the “kicker” therefore assumed that Früchtl’s time at FC Bayern was now coming to an end. The only thing that was unclear was whether the goalkeeper would extend his contract, which was valid until 2023, in order to then be loaned out, or whether the separation was permanent.

As “pictureNow it is reported that there is an interim solution: the goalkeeper is moving to the Austrian club Rapid Vienna, where he is to be officially presented as the new number one on Monday. The new contract is to be designed for the next three years.

According to the report, FC Bayern has not yet completely given up hope of Früchtl making a breakthrough. Therefore, a buyback clause should be anchored in the contract, which will enable the people of Munich to sign the home-grown player again.
