The 28-year-old Bouwman would participate in the Tour of Switzerland from Sunday and would also be at the start of the road race at the Dutch National Championships in Drenthe in just over two weeks. It is not yet known what his program will look like now.
Bouwman won two stages during the Giro d’Italia last month and became the first Dutchman ever to win the mountains classification.
