A year after his departure from FC Bayern, Jérôme Boateng could end the chapter at Olympique Lyon again. A newly crowned champion publicly expresses his interest in the 33-year-old.
For ten years, Jérôme Boateng held the bones for FC Bayern after moving from Manchester City to Munich in 2011.
But last summer it was over. The contract of the 2014 world champion with the German record champions was not extended.
Boateng left the Bavarian capital and joined Olympique Lyon in France’s Ligue 1 on a free transfer.
Jérôme Boateng not a regular player after leaving FC Bayern
So far, however, the commitment of the central defender to the former series champion has not been a real success story. Lyon clearly missed out on international business as they were bottom of the table. Boateng only played a supporting role under coach Peter Bosz, especially in the second half of the season.
“Sky” recently reported that the native of Berlin could imagine another change of scenery despite his contract running until 2023.
A first interested party for Boateng has now positioned itself: the Turkish sensational champion Trabzonspor.
“Jérôme Boateng’s name came up, now we’re dealing with him. If the financial framework is right, we would like to sign him,” confirmed head coach Abdullah Avci to the “Anadolu Ajansi” news agency.
Several interested parties for Jérôme Boateng?
According to media reports, Trabzonspor only wants to loan Boateng. It is questionable whether Lyon would agree to such a deal.
According to “Sky” there are also several interested parties for the long-time FC Bayern professional.
A return to Germany should also be an option for Boateng, who comes from the youth team at Hertha BSC and also played for Hamburger SV between 2007 and 2010.
