A seventeen-year-old boy from Oirschot has been arrested because he sent a threatening email to the De Werkplaats school community in Bilthoven at the beginning of this week. There is no evidence that the suspect actually intended to carry out the threats, the police said.
According to the police, a number of students from the school community at Kees Boekelaan received a violent threatening email on Tuesday evening. On the advice of the Public Prosecution Service, the police and the municipality, the school decided to close its doors on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June.
The police investigation revealed a 17-year-old boy from Oirschot as a suspect. He was arrested on Saturday and remains in custody for questioning. The investigation into the threat has not yet been completed.
It is not known whether the boy from Oirschot attends the school in Bilthoven or whether something else is going on. Police declined to comment on Sunday evening.
Now that a suspect has been arrested, according to the police, there is no longer a threat to the school. This means that school community De Werkplaats in Bilthoven will open again from June 7, it has been decided after consultation with the Public Prosecution Service, the police and the municipality.
