The oldest Zeeuw Aaltje Paulusse-Priester from Goes passed away in February. A month before she would turn 109 years old. Tilly Knuppel was the oldest resident of Vlissingen until November 2021. She passed away at the age of 107. According to Thecla, daughter of Elisabeth, there are still thirteen Dutch people older than her mother, but they all live outside Zeeland.
Elisabeth cannot complain, she thinks. She is well cared for in De Zoute Viever care center in East Souburg. By the nurses, but also by family and friends. “It’s just the food, it’s not always that good”, she laughs. But otherwise she is a happy person. When the weather is nice, she likes to drive around in her ‘cart’ outside. She finds it astonishing that she is now known as the oldest resident in Vlissingen and also in Zeeland. “I never expected that. Who is thinking about that now?”
