Ex almost stabbed to death – defendant dishes up new crime description

By Karin Hendrich

Anour S. (name changed, 40) was waiting for the elevator on the ground floor with a friend. When the door opened, her ex rushed out, stabbing her 17 times. “Jealousy and excessive sense of honor,” as the charge of attempted murder says?

Or, as well as assumptions: Because of a residence permit, which he could only obtain as a rejected asylum seeker with a marriage? “I didn’t want to kill her,” claims the Tunisian Mohamed M. (42) in the trial before the district court. “I still love her. And not because of these papers.”

In 2019 they both met. And only once married according to Islamic law. “We were both married. Had to wait with the registry office until the divorce.” He moved in with her on Badstrasse (Wedding). “It was very harmonious at first.” After selling his snack bar, he worked in construction. “I brought good money home.” But then there were more and more arguments. Also because of his alcohol and drug use.

After two and a half years, Anour S. threw the accused out. Six (!) weeks before the bloody deed. Since then she has had no rest and lived in constant fear. He ignored a court prohibition on approach. Wrote her cell phone messages (“I will cut your face. You will return to Tunisia in a box”…) The accused shakes his head: “She knows that I am a good person.”

On the day of the crime, he actually had an appointment with friends in a nearby café to watch football (Tunisia versus Egypt). Before that, he wanted to see her quickly. “I wanted a reconciliation or my money that was still in the apartment. Around 35,000 euros.” When no one opened, he took the elevator down again. And then Anour suddenly stood in front of him.

“I just wanted to talk to her. But she screamed hysterically and stabbed my arm with a knife,” he suddenly pulls a whole new description of the crime out of his sleeve in front of the court. He stole the knife from her and stabbed her. Where? How often? The accused: “I blacked out. I got aggressive. In seconds.” Probably also because of the drugs.

According to the indictment, not she, but he had knives with him. The accused: “Yes, two. Bought just before to chop up my food.”

Anour S. came to the clinic in mortal danger (stitches in the lungs, among other things). An emergency operation was able to save her.
