Merel Westrik’s career is still shattered. She gave up her career at RTL Nieuws for the nice talk of Linda de Mol, but now she is glued to the reserve bench.
Linda de Mol stole Merel Westrik from RTL News in the summer of 2019 to become the figurehead of Net5. That channel would become a kind of TV version of her magazine LINDA. with the Ladies Night program as the central focus. However, this women’s talk show with Merel flopped hugely.
‘Very sorry’
Linda soon left the sinking Net5 ship and Merel’s TV career has been ruined for a few years now. It is very unfortunate, Anouk Smulders thinks. “I think it’s a shame that we don’t see her for a while, huh”, said the Borsato bestie at the desk of Shownieuws.
Merel’s career has come to a complete standstill, Anouk notices. “Of course she came to Talpa in 2019, when the women’s channel on Net5 started and Ladies Night. She has done two seasons. I really liked the first season, but it was eventually taken off the tube after two seasons.”

Anouk really never hears about Merel again. “Of course she gave birth to a daughter, we saw her afterwards at Free Britney for Net5 and she made a special about Dry January for the LINDA., but after that it was actually quite quiet.”
“It’s a shame we don’t see her. We also made inquiries at Talpa and they said: ‘We are not making any statements about her contract’, but I would really like it if we see her again more often.”
