Fire expert appointed after fire in Bruges school

The fire brigade received several reports on Tuesday about a fire smell near the building in Katelijnestraat. In addition, at that moment the burglar alarm and a little later the fire alarm went off. On site, a seat of fire was actually discovered in one of the classrooms of the Municipal Academy. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, limiting the damage.

The cause of the fire is currently unclear. The Bruges public prosecutor’s office therefore decided to appoint a fire expert to investigate the precise circumstances. For the time being, we are still waiting for the expert’s findings.
