There is an important change in one of the top positions of the FIA, the International Automobile Federation. In an official statement, the body that regulates and controls, among the various competitions, also the Formula 1 World Championship, has in fact announced the farewell of Peter Bayer from the role of General Secretary of Sport and Executive Director for F1, tasks which took place respectively from 2017 and 2021.

“We warmly thank Peter Bayer – reads the short note issued by the Federation – for his results and for his contribution to the development of motorsport over the last five years. In particular, he had supervised, together with the FIA ​​sports division, the creation of the pyramid structure of open wheel competitions, starting from Karting up to F1, but also the birth of the Rally-Raid world championship, with an eye always attentive to the themes safety and sustainability. We wish him the best for the future ”.

INTERIM REPLACEMENT

Shaila-Ann Rao will take the place of Bayer as Secretary General of the FIA ​​for the time being, while waiting for the role to be definitively assigned. Lawyer with experience at the head of the FIA ​​legal office between 2016 and 2018, she had recently returned to the Federation following the parenthesis inside the Mercedes AMG F1 garage as legal manager of the team and special consultant of the great chief Toto Wolff.
