Since 2019 it was clear that Pavement wanted to be on stage together again. After delays due to Corona, the indie legends from Stockton, California, also want to play two concerts in Germany in November of this year. One in Berlin, one in Bremen.
TERROR TWILIGHT: FAREWELL HORIZONTAL with 28 new tracks
The band around Stephen Malkmus has now surprisingly announced new music. TERROR TWILIGHT: FAREWELL HORIZONTAL is a re-release of the band’s fifth and final album (TERROR TWILIGHT, 1999) and is due out on April 8th. In addition to a remastered version of the original album, the reissued disc will also feature B-sides, demos, home recordings and raw material from Pavement’s aborted session at Sonic Youths Eco Canyon Studio.
New Single “Be The Hook”
The new edition comes in XL format with 45 tracks and contains 28 previously unreleased tracks. The first single “Be The Hook” from the new album can already be heard on YouTube:
The 4-LP and 2-CD versions each include a book of previously unreleased pictures, as well as comments and notes by the band members and producer Nigel Godrich. The editions differ in the order of the songs: while the LP edition restores the arrangement originally proposed by Godrich, which emphasizes the most important songs on the album, the CD retains the original track order.
Pavement, consisting of Mark Ibold, Scott “Spiral Stairs” Kannberg, Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich and Steve West, formed in 1989. They split ten years and five albums later. With TERROR TWILIGHT, the DIY group left familiar territory: It was the first (and so far last) album that Pavement recorded with well-known producers in an expensive studio.
Pavement on tour 2022
The band last got back together in 2010. The first joint appearance since then is to take place as a headliner at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona and Porto in June 2022. From October Pavement want to go on a UK and European tour.
