Schouten, former player of ADO Den Haag, Telstar and Excelsior, was not in the preselection. Van Gaal nevertheless called him up for the away games against Belgium (June 3) and Wales (June 8) and the home games against Poland (June 11) and again Wales (June 14) in De Kuip.

Janssen will only join the Orange after the international match against Belgium, because he will get married on June 5. The 27-year-old from Brabant plays in the Mexican league at Monterrey.
The Dutch national team opens the Nations League on June 3 with an away game against Belgium. Five days later, a game against Wales is scheduled. The home matches of the Orange against Poland (June 11) and Wales (June 14) will be played in De Kuip. Van Gaal sees the upcoming international match as an important moment in the preparation for the World Cup in Qatar, as there is little time in November until the opening game against Senegal.
