Interest from VVV-Venlo
Borussia Mönchengladbach has prematurely extended Moritz Nicolas’ contract. The 24-year-old goalkeeper signed a new working paper until June 30, 2026. Nicolas was loaned out to FC Viktoria Köln last season and played a total of 33 games for the third division club.
“We are very satisfied with Moritz’ development. Of course we watched his performance closely. Moritz has played regularly at a high level over the past year and developed well. We are convinced that he can assert himself with us. Another loan would be important for his further development. He can certainly help another good club and gain more competition practice himself,” said sporting director Roland Virkus. Most recently, the Dutch regional newspaper “De Limburger” named the VVV-Venlo as an interested party.

Nicolas added: “I feel incredibly comfortable at this club and I’m happy to continue to be part of the Borussia family. I see very good prospects for myself here and had good discussions with those responsible. It was incredibly important for me last season to be able to play again after the previous two loan deals that didn’t work out the way I had hoped. In the new season, it will again be about gaining more match practice for me. In this respect, another loan is sought.”
Borussia has prematurely extended the contract with goalkeeper Moritz Nicolas, which expires on June 30, 2023, by a further three years until June 30, 2026. Most recently, the 24-year-old was in the third division @viktoria1904 on loan and played between the posts there in 30 league games.
