Pop star Billie Eilish opened up about living with Tourette Syndrome while appearing on David Letterman’s Netflix talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction. For her, the disease is “incredibly confusing,” said the singer.
Eilish was diagnosed with the disease when she was 11, she told Letterman. So many people also had Tourette and you wouldn’t even know it, says the 20-year-old. She herself would know different artists who had the same diagnosis.
Billie Eilish likes to talk about Tourette
When Letterman asked if talking about the disease made it worse, Eilish replied unequivocally, “Not at all.” On the contrary, the musician admitted that she really likes to talk about it “because it’s very interesting”. At the same time, she was “incredibly confused by it. I don’t understand,” she stated.
She said she had “little” tics as a child that were “very exhausting” for her. In the meantime, however, she would have “made friends” with the effects of her Tourette’s disease.
While she doesn’t want to be known as “the artist with Tourette,” Eilish makes no secret of her Tourette syndrome. In 2019 she spoke openly with Ellen DeGeneres about her illness. The video for it is here:
The “Happier Than Ever” singer also opened up about fame and music in an interview with Letterman. Other guests on the show included Ryan Reynolds and Will Smith. The latter made his first TV appearance after the scandalous Oscar slap in March. However, the incident was not discussed because the talk show was recorded before the Oscars, where Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas performed their Bond theme song “No Time To Die”.
Billie Eilish, who recently worked as a designer for Nike, starts her European tour in June. Before that she will give an exclusive acoustic show in Bonn, MUSIKEXPRESS is giving away tickets for the concert until May 25th.
