With a cloudy sky and strong gusts of wind from the north, the physically battered old master is having a hard time. At hole six he caught the water hazard and needed three strokes more than planned. He made bogeys on each of the last five holes, and the 46-year-old is currently on the 14th hole.

Some well-known players were eliminated yesterday. The biggest surprise was certainly the early exit of world number one Scottie Scheffler, who was two strokes above the cut line with 6 over par. Dustin Johnson and Sergio García are also gone. The best rounds came from Bubba Watson (63 shots), Mito Pereira (64) and Will Zalatoris (65). Zalatoris goes into the day as the leader with nine shots under par, closely followed by Pereira.
