Premier League: Chelsea secure third place

Five days after losing the English FA Cup final, Thomas Tuchel secured third place in the Premier League with Chelsea. In a catch-up game against Leicester City, the Blues drew 1-1 (1-1) with the German team manager and can only theoretically be caught by fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea, who lost on penalties against Liverpool FC with Jürgen Klopp last Saturday, had already qualified for the Champions League.

Everton FC secured relegation. After trailing 2-0, local rivals Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 3-2 (0-2) and moved four points clear of the first relegation zone before the last matchday. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (85th) scored the winning goal shortly before the end.

Burnley left the relegation zone thanks to the 1-1 (1-0) win at Aston Villa. Whoever accompanies Watford FC and Norwich City into the second division will decide between Burnley and Leeds United, who are third and bottom with the same number of points.
