Comes from Arminia Bielefeld
SV Werder Bremen strengthened its defense with Amos Pieper. The central defender comes on a free transfer from Bundesliga relegated Arminia Bielefeld. The 2021 U21 European champions, who are being courted by a number of clubs, played 29 games for the DSC last season. After Dikeni Salifou (19; FC Augsburg), Pieper is the second new signing for the Green-Whites.

“At the age of 24, Amos already has experience from more than 100 professional games and has already gained experience in the Bundesliga for more than two years. We assume that he will be able to help us immediately and we are pleased that he has decided to join Werder despite other opportunities,” said Clemens Fritz, head of scouting and professional football. Coach Ole Werner added: “Amos is physically strong, opens the game well and has a good header. He has already proven that he can stand his ground in the Bundesliga.”
Pieper, who was also traded at FC Bayern, BVB, Union Berlin and Mainz 05, said of his decision to go to Werder: “From the first contact with Clemens Fritz and Frank Baumann, through the discussions with Ole Werner, to my signature always got the impression: That fits, I feel good. There’s no catch. What the club intends for me, what sporting perspectives there are here – that appealed to me from the start and gave me a very good feeling. That’s why I chose Werder. In addition, the pictures of the rise and what was going on in Bremen further strengthened my decision.”
