Wolfsburg (AP) – According to several media reports, Bundesliga soccer club VfL Wolfsburg is to discuss Thomas Reis as the successor to Florian Kohfeldt.
“I still have no contact with Wolfsburg – and I’m repeating myself – to this day,” said the VfL Bochum coach to the “Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung”, which reported on internal discussions at VfL management about Reis.
Reis told “Bild” that his close relationship with VfL Wolfsburg was known: “If there was a request, I would listen to everything. It’s part of the business.” But at the moment he is assuming “to plan the new season for Bochum together with our manager Sebastian Schindzielorz, who is obviously also associated with Wolfsburg”. Rumors are circulating that Schindzielorz is said to be a candidate for the management of Lower Saxony.
Several names are doing the rounds
After the separation from Kohfeldt on Sunday, several names are circulating in the Autostadt when looking for a successor. In 2015, Kohfeldt and the 48-year-old Reis did the football instructor course at the German Football Association. “I feel sorry for Flo, especially if you know a colleague better. We hung out together for almost eleven months on the course. It’s a shame that he’s no longer there. I like and appreciate him and will give him a call sometime,” Reis said.
After a successful season with Bochum and furious victories against Bayern Munich and Dortmund, the club and coach Reis drew attention to themselves. In Wolfsburg he was a youth coach from 2016 to 2019. He then returned to Bochum.
