ADO Den Haag booked a narrow victory over FC Eindhoven in the second round of the play-offs for promotion on Tuesday. Thanks in part to a phenomenal header by Thomas Verheydt, the home team won 2-1.
Thirty-year-old Verheydt headed the ball in through the inside of the post after half an hour from about 15 meters. With that, he made it 2-0 in a spectacular way, which was prepared by Boy Kemper.
Verheydt was also important with the opening goal, with an assist. The attacker brought in Dhoraso Klas, who opened the score with a nice swipe into the far corner.
ADO, which had settled with NAC Breda in the first round of the play-offs, had little trouble with Eindhoven and left several opportunities to further expand the score after the break.

However, the visitors did not give up and can still hope for a place in the final round thanks to a used penalty by Joey Sleegers. The ball went on the spot after Hervé Matthys fouled Justin Ogenia. From 11 meters Sleegers made no mistake.
In the remainder of the game, ADO looked for a third goal, but the home team was unable to further expand the score. The return is scheduled for Saturday.
