Erling Haaland reportedly has a release clause in his Manchester City contract. As the “Bild” reports, the Norwegian should be able to change in two years for the fixed fee of 150 million euros. Haaland’s advisor Mino Raiola, who has since died, negotiated this before his death.
The 21-year-old’s contract runs until 2027, so 2024 could see an end that Manchester City would not be able to veto.
What makes Real Madrid so interesting
A possible thought with this clause would have been Real Madrid. The Spaniards have been Manchester’s fiercest competitor in courting Haaland in recent weeks and months. In view of the negotiations with Kylian Mbappé, however, the focus was not on the BVB striker, so Man City prevailed.
Haaland’s favorite club is Real Madrid, according to several media reports. And in two years, the “Royal” could have the necessary money but also the necessary space for the star striker. Because Karim Benzema’s contract is only valid until 2023. And other big earners like Luka Modric or Marcelo will probably no longer be under contract in Madrid.
Another factor in the clause could also be the future of City coach Pep Guardiola. His contract only runs until 2023 and the Spaniard has repeatedly emphasized that he does not want to extend it. If there is no success with Guardiola’s successor, Haaland would have the option of changing clubs.
