★★★1/2 It’s imperfect, yes. It is also judgmental at times. But this small film about a theater director who failed to “make the leap” and returns to town to put on “that play” is -perhaps unintentionally- the portrait of a generation whose dreams, they did not know at the time, were already anachronistic. There is a good tone, moments of real grace and the imprint of those inland towns whose architecture also shows that something that was not could be.
