Macron stated that through his ‘new European organisation’, he mainly wants to bind countries that are likely to be busy for years to come with their admission procedure to the European Union to the European bloc. In his view, the political community would allow collaboration outside of Brussels on themes such as politics, security, energy, transport and infrastructure.
The president sees a place in particular for aspiring or candidate members such as Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia, but also for Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has been in the accession process for some time, and even the United Kingdom. The British just canceled their EU membership with Brexit. “They have decided to leave our European Union, but they can get a place,” Macron said in Berlin.
