With the 3-1 away win at relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth, Borussia Dortmund secured the runners-up spot in the Bundesliga ahead of schedule. The BVB bosses are still not satisfied with the course of the season. The decision on the future of head coach Marco Rose is still pending.
Instead of giving the BVB coach full support after the 21st win of the season in the league at Greuther Fürth, the designated sports director Sebastian Kehl provided his unfortunate formulation (“I’m assuming that today” in response to the question of whether Rose next season Coach remain) for speculation about the district club. It was only on Sunday that Kehl apparently cleared this up when he stood behind Rose on “Sport1”.
But how big are the BVB management’s doubts about the trainer? As from a report by “picture“, those responsible are said to be “not completely convinced” of Rose.
The biggest point of criticism is that the former Gladbach player has not managed to develop the team further after the last season under the then interim coach Edin Terzic.
BVB ends 2021/2022 without a title
While last season ended with victory in the DFB Cup, BVB finished 2021/2022 without a title – not enough for the Black and Yellows’ own claims, who are ten points behind FC Bayern in the Bundesliga table.
After the end of the season against Hertha BSC next Saturday, according to “Bild”, the Dortmund elephant group around Watzke, the outgoing sports director Michael Zorc, his permanent successor Kehl and the external advisor Matthias Sammer will meet to discuss what they saw last season with all clarity and analyze openness.
It is understood that internal pressure on Dortmund head coach Rose will then be increased ahead of his second season. A premature termination of the cooperation is not very likely, but apparently not entirely impossible either.
