The recognition by Australia of a certificate of vaccination with two components of the Russian drug Sputnik V to establish the status of a vaccinated person indicates the recognition outside of Russia of the high effectiveness of the vaccine. This was announced to RBC by Assistant Minister of Health of Russia Alexei Kuznetsov.
“The expansion of the list of countries that have de facto recognized the Russian Sputnik vaccine clearly indicates the recognition of its high effectiveness abroad,” he said.
Australia recognizes vaccinated with two components of Sputnik V
The Therapeutic Goods Authority of Australia (TGA) issued a statement accepting the Sputnik V vaccination certificate for travelers on January 17 after receiving further information from the Russian authorities. “The data suggest that two doses of Sputnik V (Gamaleya Institute) showed an average efficacy against symptomatic infection of 89% and against hospitalization or death of 98-100%,” the regulator said.
The measure applies only to those vaccinated with two components of the Russian vaccine; in the case of vaccination with the one-component Sputnik Light, the status of vaccinated against COVID-19 in Australia will not be obtained. The TGA noted that the recognition of the Russian drug will expand opportunities for the return of foreign students, as well as facilitate the return of workers, businessmen and athletes to Australia.
