Friedrichshain is getting colorful again: The “Tape Art Convention” starts on Saturday in the Napoleon Complex.

The works of art are not created with paint on canvas, but with adhesive tape on the wall! Tape art developed in New York in the 1990s because street artists wanted to avoid penalties for vandalism.
The colorful tape has been a trend in Berlin since around 2010 – mostly on the streets of the capital. In the Napoleon complex, the art movement now has a lot of space on 1000 square meters. And she needs that too: because the works of art are very large.
Altogether there are more than 30 artists from South Africa, Italy, Croatia and the USA. There are guided tours through the exhibition and workshops. Here, visitors can learn how to be creative with duct tape themselves.
The exhibition runs from May 7th to May 21st in the Napoleon Complex (Modersohnstrasse 35-45) and is always open from 12 noon to 9 p.m. (Mondays by reservation only). Tickets are available from five euros www.tapeartconvention.com
