Flu wave not over, but seems to have peaked | Inland

The flu epidemic in the Netherlands is not over yet, but it seems to have passed its peak, reports research institute Nivel.

In 31 percent of the samples that GPs took from patients last week, an influenza virus was found in the laboratory of the RIVM. In the week before, this was 47 percent and in the three weeks before that, this percentage was always around 60 percent.

This decrease seems to indicate that the flu epidemic is ‘on the decline’, according to Nivel. According to the institute, fewer positive samples of the influenza virus have also been found in hospitals laboratories and GGD test streets in recent weeks. There has been an official flu epidemic in our country since mid-March.

The weekly sample of GPs consists of dozens of samples. About 45 general practices in the country report the number of patients with flu symptoms.
