The ABBA Voyage virtual concert show begins later this month (May 27) in London. How the design of these special concerts will look like is largely unforeseeable for fans. In any case, it is known that the four real ABBA members will not be on stage, but their so-called “Abbatares” – virtual copies of the Swedes, holograms, which will take over the performance.
The band gave a foretaste of the images on Tuesday (03 May) with a short clip on Facebook. It features the avatar of Agnetha Fältskog.
Detailed reproduction
The video shows a picture of the young Fältskog from 1979 with a serious expression on her face. Standing against a purple background, she wears a glittery silver bodice and her hair is loose over her shoulders. In eight seconds, the picture is zoomed in closer and closer until the viewer can see almost every pore of the singer. The figure of Fältskog therefore seems to have been reproduced in great detail.
Fans are enthusiastic: Not “idealized”, but “touching”
The comments below the video clip seem to be filled with enthusiasm: “They did a great job, that must have been really first-class scans,” writes a supporter of the band, also happily noting that the “Abbatar” does not look “idealized”. Another comment said the image was so “emotional” that it “touched the person to the depths of my soul.” Others may “can’t wait” to see the concert or wish they could attend the event.
In another new post on the “ABBA Voyage” Facebook page, there are more preview impressions of the show: All four “Abbatares” are shown in one photo.
“Dream Setlist” for the ABBA show
In addition, the band announced on Facebook that there was the possibility of creating their own dream set list for the virtual concert. The ABBA website leads to a generator in which 20 tracks can be selected. When the selection is sent, these are compiled into a playlist that can be called up via Apple Music or Spotify. In addition, every fan can download their own set list as an image file.
It was recently announced that the stage outfits for the avatars were designed by Dolce & Gabbana. The band also announced that all four ABBA members will attend the opening show in London.
