Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan’s 1987 wedding was watched by a massive TV audience. Of course, this was not a real marriage, but an episode of the Australian hit series “Neighbours”.
The two mimed the lovers Charlene Mitchell and Scott Robinson in it at the end of the 80s and thus led the daily soap to international success. The pair returned to set one last time for the final episode, which is set to air on August 1.
Neighbors: Australia’s longest-lasting series
Neighbors has been around for 37 years, making it Australia’s longest-running show. In terms of content, it deals with the everyday life of the residents of Ramsey Street, which is located in a fictional suburb of Melbourne. It was recently announced that the series would not be continued. The British broadcaster “Channel 5” had decided to stop broadcasting.
Minogue and Donovan are supposed to be there one last time
For the final episode, the producers have considered: Kyle Minogue and Jason Donovan should be there one last time. “Neighbors” served as a springboard for a successful music career for both of them. The 53-year-old singer recently moved back to her native Melbourne from the UK, where her music is particularly popular.
“A Special Role”
The show’s official Twitter account proclaimed that it “wouldn’t feel right” to end the show without Minogue and Donovan. They are “the ultimate neighbors couple” and would therefore “play a special role in the series finale”.
