Clap Your Hands Say Yeah are on tour in Germany these days, presented by Musikexpress. The once five-piece band from Philadelphia, which now consists solely of singer Alec Ounsworth, performs in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne after shows in Munich and Dresden. Tickets are available from the organizer.
Ounsworth’s current album NEW FRAGILITY was released in February 2021. ME author André Boße called this fifth record “another kind of restart. The songs are more political and serious, “Thousand Oaks” is about the shooting in a bar three years ago that claimed 13 lives, “Hesitating Nation” is a report on the state of the nation. It’s good that Ounsworth doesn’t just report here, he reflects on his own perception.” According to Bosse, Clap You Hands Say Yeah was one of the first internet sensations in the mid-nineties, “meaning: the band was popular before the magazines wrote about her.” Her acclaimed debut, CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY YEAH, was released in June 2005.
