A Swedish manufacturer of winter sports products has received a shit storm for its alleged collaboration with the Russian Alexander Bolshunov. A little later, the CEO of the company clarifies the matter and vehemently defends himself against the criticism.
On Saturday, the Swedish newspaper “Expressen” published an article claiming that the winter sports company “Skigo” would continue to work with the multiple Russian Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov despite all the events of the past few weeks.
The manufacturer then came under heavy criticism and caught a shit storm. CEO Christer Majbäck immediately opposed this.
In conversation with the newspaper “Norrlandska Socialdemocrats” the head of the company denied cooperation with Bolshunov. “There is no cooperation at all. It’s completely impossible,” Majbäck contradicted the report.
Majbäck was annoyed that he and his company were immediately labeled as supporters of the war after the report was published. “Every normal person is against the war. I would like to see a Swede who is not against it. I don’t think it exists. It’s just a tragedy,” said the former cross-country skier.
The “Skigo” manager also did not want future cooperation with Bolshunov, who is regularly used by the Russian government for propaganda purposes and is considered a Putin friend.
“You have to see what time brings. At the moment, neither we nor any other company can work with Alexander Bolshunov. But that we are now being portrayed as supporting the war is completely unnecessary. It is incredibly clear that we not support the war,” said Majbäck.
