Anyone who wants to call on a dog boarding house in Limburg during the summer holidays will most likely have to find another place to stay for his four-legged friend.
Some dog boarding houses in the province are even fully booked until the end of September.
Phones red hot
The telephones of the animal hotels are red hot, because the owners like to go on holiday.
It ensures that they can no longer cope with the demand in Geleen. Owner Arla Weijgerse of Royal Dog Resort has to say no 5 to 6 times a day. According to her, the increased crowds have several causes. “In times of corona, many people have bought a dog. But now that it is possible, the owners want to go on holiday again.”
smaller dogs
Moreover, Weijgerse sees it becoming significantly busier since the permanent closure of the dog boarding houses in Spaubeek and Posterholt. In addition, a boarding house in Meerssen only accepts smaller dogs. “At least 170 dog sleeping places have been lost, while more people have taken a dog.”
Holidays
Daphne Neutelings from Geleen also bought a second dog during the pandemic and wants to go to France in a few months. She uses the dog boarding house in Geleen and was still on time with booking for her four-legged friends. “I contacted you at the end of last year to avoid the crowds,” says Neutelings.
During corona, Neutelings spent a lot of time with her dogs and even though she still has to go on holiday, she is already looking forward to the moment to pick up her four-legged friends again. “We have considered taking them with us, but we also give our own dogs a holiday,” Neutelings laughs.
