Solo, 40, was arrested for drink-driving, resisting arrest and child abuse. She was released on bail and later said through a lawyer that “the story is more sympathetic than the initial allegations suggest”. On Saturday it became clear that she is still seeking help for her problems.
Solo, who is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers ever, would be inducted into the Hall of Fame next month. “I have contacted the Hall of Fame and have kindly requested an adjournment. I will voluntarily participate in an alcohol treatment program to address my problems with alcohol. Right now my energy and focus is completely focused on my health, healing and taking care of my family. I want to thank the Hall of Fame for their support and understanding of my decision.”
